4 city points to visit in Santiago de Chile

Santiago de Chile is one of the most important capitals of South America. A very modern city with lots of attractions and very near to the Andes mountains. If you are planning to travel to Santiago there are some places that you should schedule in your visit.


Plaza de Armas


The Plaza de Armas is the main square of Santiago de Chile, located in the city center, the surroundings of the square are full of historical buildings such as the Metropolitan Cathedral and the National Historic Museum, a building that was built between 1804 and 1807. You can also find the building of the Central Post Office, a building that was re built in 1882 after being burn down
.

Some monuments that you can find in the Plaza de Armas are the Statue of Pedro de Valdivia, the founder of the city, the Monument to the victory of Ayacucho, the Statue of Apostol Santiago, and the Monument to the Originary habitants of the area.

El Golf 


El Golf is one of the most exclusive neighborhoods of Santiago, the upper area of El Golf is known with the name of Isidora Goyenechea, in this part of the city, you can find several mansions that date from the 1940's and 1950s and that combine with the modern high rise buildings. You can also find Restaurants and Cafes to enjoy this nice part of the city. The Lower area is called Sanhattan, a name that comes from the mix of Santiago with Manhattan, and it is called this way because of the modern and tall buildings and because of the finance companies located in the area. In this part of the city, you visit the Plaza Peru, where antiques are shown and sold on Sundays.




Bellavista


The Bellavista neighborhood is one of Santiago's cultural centers. In this neighborhood you will find the Metropolitan Park with the Zoo, the funicular, from where you can go to the top of the Cerro San Cristobal to have wonderful views of the city, also located in this neighborhood is La Chascona a Museum-House that was built in 1953 and belonged to Pablo Neruda. But this neighborhood is known for the variety of theaters cafes, pubs, and restaurants that are in the area.



Bellas Artes


The National Fine Arts Museum of Bellas Artes is one of Chile's most important museums, it has approximately 3000 pieces of art, that include paintings, sculptures, and drawings from the colonial period to the present. The building of the museum is a neoclassic building that integrates Art Nouveau elements designed by Emilio Jecquier and was built in 1910. It also has a library specialized in visual arts with more than 100.000 books.
