My exciting trip to Mendoza, a city to know and enjoy

Mendoza is one of the places you need to visit if you plan to travel to Argentina. It´s not only the beauty it has but also all the activities you can enjoy, from wine tasting to visiting spectacular places near the city. There are lots of tours you can make that will take you from a couple of hours to all day, but they are worth it.

Mendoza province is on the central east side of Argentina. This was not my trip to Mendoza, this was my second visit as a tourist, I love the city and all of its surroundings.

This was the view of Mendoza City and the Andes from the top of the hotel.

The city is one of the most important in Argentina, and one of the things I love most about Mendoza is that you can see the Andes mountains from the city.

The city is very friendly and easy to walk, I stayed very near the city center, where the main square is Independencia. 

The diagram of the city is very clear, It is very easy to know where you are. 

There are another four squares very near Independencia square that are worth the visit.

Each square has its beauty. Each square has its name in honor of a local community or a local hero, for example, San Martin square has a statue of  San Martin, the main national hero of Argentina, who liberated Argentina, Chile, and Peru from the Spanish. 

Italy Square has statues in honor of the Italian community that arrived in Mendoza in the XIX century.

Chile square has its name for the friendship of Argentina and Chile, and España square has its name for the Spanish community.

The Parque General San Martin is a beautiful park near the city center. The main entrance gate is of the most beautiful gates I have ever seen. The gates were made in Glasgow and sent to Mendoza in 1908.

Cerro de la Gloria hill is located inside the Parque General San Martin, at the top of the hill you have the monument to Los Andes Army.

Uruguayan artist Juan Manuel Ferrari made this monument to honor the six legions of the Army that crossed the Andes to liberate Chile from the Spanish. The Andes Army was commanded by San Martin.

From this site, you have wonderful views of the city and of the Andes mountains.

What I love about Mendoza, is the variety of places to eat, you can find places and varieties of food, from meat to pasta or international cuisine.

I loved this place, BROD bakery, a place to have wonderful and delicious breakfasts, but also it has good food for lunch.

The main Market in Mendoza city, a place to find food and wines from local producers.

If you want to buy local souvenirs, clothes, wines, and delicious alfajores, Las Viñas Store is the place to go, located in Las Heras avenue, very near the Main Market. 

Perin is famous in the city and has one of the best ice creams, the shop is located very near Independencia square and is a must if you visit the city.

The Pistachio Ice Cream is one of the best I tasted in my life, I recommend it. But all the flavors were delicious, ask the people in the Ice Cream shop for suggestions and they will give you good advice.

At night Aristides street is the main area of restaurants. A very popular street full of restaurants, and pubs. 

I wanted to mention Mendotram, the local tram service. It does not have a big coverage, but it is very useful depending on the area you are staying in.

Nice memories of the visit I made to Mendoza, and that I am grateful to remember.
