Knowing the incredible Tokyo transport System as a tourist

Tokyo Transport System

I wanted to make a special section for the Tokyo transportation system. It´s just amazing, either the Metro system and Train System are extremely easy to use and very efficient.
Both have ticket vending machines to get tickets, but the vending machines have different languages, so you can understand perfectly the ticket you need. There are several tickets, for tourists you can get the regular tickets, these are available for one trip only, and the cost varies from 170 yen (1,49 USD), 200 yen (1,75 USD), 250 yen (2,19 USD), 290 yen (2,54 USD), and 320 yen (2,80 USD) depending on the distance. And you also have a 1-day Open Ticket, a ticket that allows unlimited rides on Tokyo Metro for 24 hours from first use. Tickets can be bought in advance or on the day. The cost of this ticket is 600 yen (around 5,25 USD).

Tokyo Metro

If you want to use the Metro System when you arrive at any of the two airports of Tokyo, there are also special Tickets to buy.
If you arrive at Narita Airport,  you can buy the Keisei Skyliner & Tokyo Subway Ticket, this ticket combines the Keisei Skyliner One-way or round-trip tickets from Narita Airport Terminal 1 Station or Narita Airport Terminal 2·3 Station to Keisei Ueno Station and All lines of the Tokyo Metro and the Toei Subway. There is also a Limousine Bus & Subway Pass (Narita Airport), which combines the Limousine Bus service with any of the Tokyo Metro stations.

If you arrive at Haneda Airport, there are several tickets for Haneda Airport, starting with Welcome! Tokyo Subway Ticket (round trip), a multi-part ticket that combines a round-trip ticket from Haneda Airport Terminal 1·2 Station or Haneda Airport Terminal 3 Station on the Keikyu Airport Line to Sengakuji Station with a Tokyo Subway 24-hour, 48-hour or 72-hour Ticket.
You can get also the Limousine Bus & Subway Pass (Haneda Airport), which combines the Limousine Bus service with any of the Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway lines.

The Metro System is huge, it covers 328 km (203,81 mi), has 282 stations, 9 lines, and transports around 9 million passengers per day. Nevertheless, it is very simple to use, and if you want to know when to take the Tokyo Metro, using Google Maps helps a lot, not only does it indicate the closest station, but also has all the time of arrival of every subway train.

The JR Train Lines

JR East is the major train operator in Tokyo, it runs a total of 36 lines,  connecting the various areas of the city, the suburban areas, and the cities in the neighboring prefectures.

The most known line is the Yamanote Line, which goes around the center of the city, connecting Tokyo Station with areas such as Akihabara, Ueno, Nippori, Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, Harajuku, Shibuya, and Shinagawa.

JR also runs the Tokyo Monorail, which connects Haneda Airport with Hamamatsucho Station of the Yamanote Line. This is a very convenient way to arrive to and from the airport.

One important thing is that if you want to use any of the JR Lines or the Monorail and then the Tokyo Metro, you will need to buy different tickets. The Tokyo Metro tickets are not valid for the JR lines as well as the JR line ticket are not useful for Tokyo Metro lines.

The Limousine Bus.

Limousine Bus is the leading operator of airport transportation in Tokyo. It has good Direct Access to and from Central Tokyo and Narita and Haneda Airports.
You can use Limousine Bus from the Airport to arrive at any Hotel in Tokyo, it takes you directly to many of the Hotels or leaves you in a very close area of your Hotel. The other way round you need to look for the Bus Stops, it has many bus stops around the city.

So even Tokyo is a huge city, it is very simple to move around Tokyo.
