The APA Hotel Shinjuku Kabukicho Tower in Tokyo

During my time in Tokyo, I stayed in three different hotels. Since I was traveling for work, my company paid for a stay at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton Tokyo. However, I also spent one night at the APA Hotel Pride Kokkaigijidomae, and later, one night at the APA Hotel Shinjuku-Kabukicho Tower.

🗺️ Getting There

I arrived at the hotel after checking out from the Ritz-Carlton. To get there, I took the Tokyo Metro and got off at Shinjuku Station—one of Tokyo’s major transportation hubs, where several train and metro lines intersect.

The APA Hotel Shinjuku-Kabukicho Tower is located about 10 blocks from Shinjuku Station, in the heart of the Kabukicho area—a lively district full of restaurants, shops, and entertainment options. It’s very close to the Shinjuku Toho Building and just a few minutes’ walk from Golden Gai, a network of small pedestrian alleys packed with unique bars and eateries.

🏨 First Impressions & Check-In

This hotel felt more basic and busier than the APA Hotel Pride where I stayed on my first night in Tokyo. The check-in process is similar—you use automated machines to enter your booking details and receive your room key. However, due to the hotel’s high traffic, check-in took a bit longer here.

🛏️ The Room

I was assigned a small room overlooking the railway tracks, which made it a bit noisier compared to the previous hotel. Trains pass frequently and don’t stop, so if you're a light sleeper, this could be an issue. That said, the noise is manageable and didn’t prevent me from getting a decent night’s sleep.

The bathroom was identical to the one at APA Hotel Pride, which suggests the chain uses a consistent design and construction model across its properties.

🧾 Final Thoughts

• ✅ The hotel is located in a very lively and busy area.

• 🔒 Although Kabukicho is sometimes rumored to be unsafe, I never felt in danger. Tokyo is extremely safe, even in its busiest neighborhoods.

• 🛏 The room was small but comfortable, and the price-to-comfort ratio was fair.

• 🚉 Being close to the railway makes it noisier, so consider that when booking.

• ⏱ The check-in process can be slower than in quieter APA locations due to the hotel’s popularity.

If I had to choose, I’d prefer a hotel located slightly further from the train tracks for a quieter experience. But overall, the APA Hotel Shinjuku-Kabukicho Tower is a solid choice for travelers on a budget who want to stay in the heart of Tokyo.
