The Eiffel Tower


Without doubt one of the world's symbols, and one of the most important tourist attractions in the world, everybody knows about the Eiffel Tower, a symbol of Paris, the city of lights. The Eiffel Tower was built between 1887 and 1889, has 325mt of altitude, and was for many years the tallest building in the world.

Its construction was the subject of controversy for the date and was inaugurated for the World Expo of 1889.

Designed by Gustave Eiffel´s Engineer company, the tower has three levels, based on a base that is 125 meters on each side, the foundations have a depth of 7 meters which are the pillars that are the entrances to the tower.




The first level at 57 meters high, has an area of 4200 mt2, and a maximum capacity of 3000 people, has a 
circular gallery that allows a 360-degree view of Paris, and a restaurant, where you can see also inside the tower.



The second level is 115 meters high, has an area of 1650 mt2, and has a capacity of 1600 people. At this level, there is also a restaurant, and for most of the people has the best view of Paris.
The third and last level, located at 275 meters, covers an area of 350 mt2 and a capacity of 400 people. At this level, access by lift is mandatory, as the stairs are closed to the public. 




Undoubtedly one of the world's most striking buildings and a place that it is impossible not to visit when you are strolling through Paris.



Some other important and interesting facts about the Eiffel Tower:

1- Two engineers that worked for Eiffel, Maurice Koechlin and Emile Nouguier designed the tower.
2- The Eiffel Tower was supposed to be torn down after 20 years.
3- There’s a secret apartment at the top.
4- When Germany occupied France during the Second World War, Hitler ordered that the Eiffel Tower be torn down, but the order was never carried out.
5-Next to the gift shops on the first floor of the Tower, there is a tiny post office


6- There was a meteorology lab on the Tower’s third floor where he performed studies in physics, aerodynamics, and built a wind tunnel.
7- The massive iron structure is wind resistant and will sway during a storm.
8- 72 names of French scientists and engineers working in the 19th century were not forgotten by history and were engraved on the Eiffel Tower.
9-Every seven years, around 60 tons of paint are applied to the tower.
10-Underneath the Tower’s south pillar sits a secret military bunker that may connect to the nearby Ecole Militaire via a long tunnel.

  1. The outstanding Eiffel Tower is located in Paris which is one of the world most famous monuments. The Tower was designed by Gustave Eiffel that’s the reason called Eiffel Tower.
    It was finished in 1889 for the Paris world exhibition which was designed and built just two year by 132 workers and 50 engineers. Moreover, the height of the tower is 324 m and weight is 7300 tons. I’d definitely recommend everyone must visit one in life.
